First step in your cloud cost journey should be a good communication with your AWS Account Manager. AWS is well know for their customer-obsessed approach . They are eager to help you find savings. They can work with you to identify saving opportunities. Also, they can work with you and give you visibility in current AWS incentive programs based on your needs.
Credits for your startup
AWS motivates startups to use AWS services via their AWS Activate program where you can get up to 100K USD in credits for AWS services.
Also, if your company has been part of any VC funding round, ask AWS whether they work with your investors. They might have some cooperation already established.
AWS Partner Network
The AWS Partner Network (APN) is a global community of partners that leverages programs, expertise, and resources to build, market, and sell customer offerings. AWS Partner Network is like a door into cloud business…you could deliver your services and be recognized by AWS via this network.
AWS see this Partner Network as a crucial part of for their business, they also motivate you to be better, sell more, research new solutions, etc…I suggest you to follow Ruba Borno, VP of Worldwide Channels & Alliances on Linkedin to get the newest info from this program .
The Yearly APN registration fee is 2500 USD. And what you can get for it?

AWS Promotional Credit for each net new AWS Certification attained by individuals associated with their AWS Partner Central account. AWS Partners receive $300 per Associate Certification (max of 2) and $500 per Professional or Specialty Certification (max of 5) every calendar year.
AWS Migration Acceleration Program (AWS MAP)
AWS can help you also to speed up your migration to cloud via their program called AWS MAP. This program requires a bit of planning and working together with AWS or AWS Partner with Migration capability. And it has multiple phases. But at the end of migration, you can get 25% of your new costs back in credits (e.g. you migrate a service that will cost 100K USD / year in AWS and you will get 25K USD back in credits). Here I suggest to talk to your AWS representatives.
Questionaries
I have plenty of requests for filling up questionaries from AWS. One of the last I have is for giving feedback for AWS Re:Invent 2022 in Las Vegas. AWS offers 100 USD for filling up this form. It’s not much…but such a credit can cover cost for your private project for next couple of months!
